Gamboe

Erica Gamboe, DVM

Dr. Erica Gamboe was born and raised in Peoria, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Augustana College, a small liberal arts school on the Illinois–Iowa border, before attending the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Her love for animals began at a young age—she recently rediscovered a poem she wrote in fourth grade about wanting to become a veterinarian! At 14 years old, she began shadowing at a veterinary clinic, and soon after, she started volunteering at a local animal shelter. She went on to work as a kennel assistant throughout high school and college, spending her summers shadowing veterinarians to gain further hands-on experience. During her undergraduate and veterinary studies, Dr. Gamboe also traveled to Costa Rica and Greece, where she provided veterinary care in underserved areas and helped address local stray animal populations.

Within veterinary medicine, Dr. Gamboe has special interests in internal medicine, oncology, and soft tissue surgery. She particularly enjoys collaborating with pet owners to create individualized treatment plans and values the opportunity to build lasting bonds with both her patients and their families.

Outside of work, Dr. Gamboe enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé and their three cats. She recently moved to Colorado and is looking forward to hiking her first 14er!
